This was held at the Tauranga Cancer Society on Saturday 20th of May and had a good turn out of around 15 people. A new committee was formed with Dian Cheyne taking the Presidents position and Helen Batchelor joining the committee. Richard McNair gave a short talk on his recent trip to Seoul Korea to attend the Asia & South Pacific Ostomy Associations recent Conference and House of Delegates meeting.
There were some new members present and a lively discussion took place around common problems that are faced my most Ostomates.

On the 29th of April the society had a very successful lunch at the RSA restaurant and in fact we were the first to be able to use the refurbished separate area to the main dining room. About 22 members attended and we had a really great meal and spent time simply enjoying the day and friendship. This was so successful that maybe we could look at holding them more often.
Hi everyone, The Rotorua group held a very productive meeting at the Cancer Society upstairs room in Ranolf Street and although there were not many people present it was judged a success by those who attended and it would be really great if we could get a few more of the older Ostomates from Rotorua to come along in the future. Meetings will be held monthly from now on and for any older people who are concerned about getting upstairs then you do not need to be as there is a very good lift installed and can in fact even handle a wheel chair. Those present would all really like to make the group progress and for that to happen we need more people to attend so dates for the next few meetings will be put up on the web site shortly.
Recently I went over to Rotorua and sat in on a coffee morning with a group of new Ostomates from Rotorua who are interested in holding monthly coffee mornings in Rotorua to enhance their knowledge of their own Ostomies and to be in a position to assist any other Ostomates, either current or prospective. There were around 8 Ostomates there along with Victoria from Convatec and myself and as they were all new people I was encouraged for the future of the Rotorua area.
They are going to be holding more coffee mornings in Rotorua and these will be on a monthly basis so it is to be hoped that we can attract more of the existing members of the old Rotorua society to come along and share their knowledge and expertise with the new people. Contact details will be available shortly. |
