World Ostomy Day Seminar 6th October 2018
Western Bay of Plenty Ostomy Society
As the Patron of the society and also the organizer of this event, which I understand was one of the few events held in NZ to celebrate WOD I would like to thank all those people who came for the seminar and In particular the executive and family who helped out on the day as without them it would not have run so smoothly, Dian, Barbara and my wife Beverly all did a considerable amount to ensure that things stayed on track. We had excellent speakers who kept the audience enthralled from start to finish. I particularly want to thank Mark Liddle from Liberty Medical who not only had products on display, but who also was one of our speakers and on top of that he handled the audio visual stuff!
I want to thank Legacy Trust for the use of the building, my cousins Dorothy, Elaine and Bruce for looking after the food side of things, Mike Savage for all of his input as well as being one of our speakers.
I would like to thank all of the speakers particularly as Kallia and her family had to travel from Auckland and of course Mark came from Hamilton and Barry Maughan stepped in at the last minute coming from Waihi.
It is a pity that a few more of our own members did not come as they missed a fantastic day and also missed out on meeting and talking to our speakers but as is was we had people from Taupo, Waikato and Whakatane area. At this stage I am doing the final set of accounts for the event and I believe that we will have made a profit even though that was not the original intention and it is to be hoped that we will be able to make a donation to Kallia’s efforts with Team OKK next year which is designed to raise funds for an Ostomy Youth camp.
